![]() ![]() In March of 2021, TSN had a round-table discussion that included Seravalli mentioning how the Leafs had called Nashville about his availability but the Predators backed out because they weren't sure where they stood in the playoff race at the time and whether or not they wanted to rid themselves of certain players. In 2020-21 he scored 13 goals and 27 points in 51 games and in 2021-22 he scored 11 goals and 64 points in 80 games.Īs we dig deeper, David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period tweeted back in July of 2021, that Granlund was on the Leafs' radar that summer and was a player that peaked Dubas' interest during the season as well. ![]() According to Frank Seravalli, the Leafs were closing in on a deal for Granlund last year. Granlund scored 1 goal and added 4 assists in 21 games with the Penguins, who failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in Sidney Crosby's career. It was a move that not only shocked the NHL but probably put the nail in his coffin as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as Granlund had term remaining at a pretty substantial cap hit. The Nashville Predators were hesitant at the time and decided not to move him.įast forward a calendar year and Ron Hextall acquired Granlund from the Predators for a 2nd round pick in 2023 at this year's trade deadline. I would just rather go with more durable guys. For one reason or another, the Toronto Maple Leafs have had a longstanding interest in forward Mikael Granlund and were reportedly close to acquiring him in consecutive seasons in 20. We need to be aggressive with pitching, so I get it. MLB moved up the deadline by one day this season to avoid having it on a weekend day with afternoon. He posted an insane 184 ERA+, so I completely see why the Angels are seen as a possibility. The 2021 Major League Baseball trade deadline was on Friday, July 30 at 4 p.m. He recorded a 2.51 ERA last year, with a career-high 9.6 K/9 rate. If we do sign Duffy, however, we're getting someone who's recently been tremendous while on the field. Mullins suffered the injury in the eighth. Make no mistake about it-Duffy was having perhaps the best season of his career before he got hurt, but signing two injury-prone starters in one offseason when we dealt with so many injuries last year worries me. Cedric Mullins left today’s game with what Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters was a strain in the outfielder’s right abductor/groin area. With Duffy, however, there's not as much to like due to the injury he suffered this season. A career 3.48 ERA guy with a 1.117 career WHIP, there's a lot to like about potentially signing Tepera. He posted a 2.50 ERA, a 2.56 FIP (0.24 lower), and a 12 K/9 rate (1.6 higher).īelieve it or not, I really like the momentum Tepera's riding right now. He was arguably even better, however, when he went down to the South Side. He started the year on the Cubs, and was very good posting a 2.91 ERA with an 0.785 WHIP. Tepera would be a great option for the Angels, as he was lights out when he headed back to the AL this season. I love that Tepera idea, but not so much the Duffy prediction. Duffy is to sign a one-year/$10 million deal, and Tepera is expected to go for two years, $12 million. Danny Duffy and Ryan Tepera are predicted to go to the LA Angels by Dierkes of MLBTR.ĭanny Duffy and Ryan Tepera were predicted to sign with the LA Angels for cheap, according to Dierkes. Two of their Top 50 Free Agents are to be headed to Anaheim according to Tim Dierkes over at MLBTR. MLB Trade Rumors, however, had the Angels going after multiple free agent pitchers who are still available. Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Loup were huge signings, but I'm not so sure about Michael Lorenzen. The Halos began the offseason aggressively going after pitching, but have since shied away from the hot stove. The Angels offseason is going to be halted with the MLB lockout, but they still have chances to get a lot done once it ends. ![]()
